probably the best you can get in polish jazz (however there are some other prime examples) . Brothers are known from unconventional projects, their pieces are only for double bass and percussion. They collaborated with many top-notch jazz musicans like:David Murray, Theo Jorgensmann, Ken Vandermark, Erik Friedlander, Jeb Bishop, Kent Kessler, Mark Taylor, Jean-Luc Cappozzo, Anthony Coleman, Rudi Mahall, Michael Rabinowitz, David Rempis and some otheres.

>1st Film Music Festival, 29-31 May

As the name indicates, the festival is dedicated to music composed for movies.It starts exactly at 100th anniversary of the first soundtrack made by one of the best composers ever – Camille Saint-Saëns (Paris 1908).
The festival opens in Philharmonic Hall with concert “100 Years of Film Score”, that will be a retrospective of the most popular pieces of music composed for films.(29th of may,20:00). The following days will see  plenary concerts on Krakow’s Błonia: on 30th the French composer Eric Serra presents his music to Luc Besson’s films and on 31th Sinfonietta Cracovia, Pro Musica Mundi choir will play music to the first part of Peter Jackson’s trilogy The Lord of the Rings (film will be screened as well).

100nka (read:stonka) plays music, that is difficult to label,it is not entirely jazz nor rock, and for sure it is not jazz -rock. It is actually stylistic mosaic of rock, jazz, groove, even folk or funk. Special attention deserves guitar here, unconventional, moving from different moods and guitar effect – makes 100nka sound surprising and fresh.

Gendos comes from Tuva (Russian republic in Central Asia), he is a shaman and traditional throat singer, who does not avoid experiments with jazz and rock. In 1994 together with Ken Hyder and Tim Hodgkinson, he established jazz band K-space, and later in 2000 with Yat-Kha and Aleksej Saaja GenDOS Rock Group.
In Alchemia we will see his solo project, so there will be no rock, no jazz, just throat

Betty Be is a new project of three girls of Los Trabantos, a band that dissolved in 2006. Graza (guitar, vocals), Marta (sax, vocals) and Ula (bass) have been joined by Karabin (drums, bare-fist boxing aficionado). With female vocals, Karabin’s sounds and a tuneful saxophone, the band’s music has been described as obstinate rock. Their lyrics reflect everyday problems of modern man: contraception, shopping at malls, wonder diets, passed-out pub-crawling, bra sizes, the difficulties of cross-stitching The School of Athens or how to feed a delegation of 40 activists with a plateful of goulash.

Quite startling and original blend of college rock, post punk and indie rock.Their first album “take-off”, that will be presented during concert, is a compilation of 13 melodic songs which combine a dynamic rhythmic section, noisy guitars, strong vocals and energetic raw songs.
