Contemporary approach to early music is a trademark of all Jordi Savall and Montserrat Figueras music ensambles.
Fascinated by the immense wealth of the Hispanic and European musical repertoire dating back to 1800 and before Jordi Savall, Montserrat Figueras, Lorenzo Alpert and Hopkinson Smith founded the ensemble Hespèrion XX in 1974. The spirit characterised by Hespèrion up to the present day has been the eclectic way in which they have made their artistic choices. This has allowed the Group to interpret a number of important Spanish medieval pieces as well as English renaissance, baroque and consort music pieces by Dowland, Tye, Coprario, etc. The Group also brings us other European repertories including a great deal of unknown pieces, which by being played have contributed to the popularity of their composers J. Jenkins, J. Rosenmuller, S. Scheidt etc. For over thirty years, Hespèrion XX – now Hesperion XXI due to the new century – has remained true to that initial vision, and participates in the main early-music festivals around the globe

Jewish Culture Festival, 28 june – 6 july

The Jewish Culture Festival in Cracow is one of the most important and largest events of its kind in the world.
Shaped by outstanding figures in various fields of Jewish culture and art, the Festival became over time a place where Jews and non-Jews from all over the world could meet. They are linked by the shared values that they find in Kazimierz and Cracow , the space of the Festival. For over a week, Kazimierz resounds with synagogue song, klezmer music, and Hasidic, classical, and Jewish folk music. There are films, performances, presentations, and exhibitions to see and stories told by the Jews about their culture to listen to.
In its present form, the Festival not only introduces the living Jewish tradition to a wide audience, but also offers a share of the joy in creating that tradition. Workshops in Hasidic dance and song, klezmology, Hebrew calligraphy, Jewish paper cutting and cooking, conducted by people from both Ashkenazy and Sephardic culture, attract numerous learners. Every year, the Festival puts on over 100 events featuring dozens of performers and thousands of participants from all over the world.
The Festival is a span of the symbolic bridge where Poles and Jews meet to strengthen the process of understanding and reconciliation. The Jewish Culture Festival in Cracow is, after all, a symbol of tolerance, pluralism, and the faith that we have a chance, through the celebration of Jewish culture and the celebration of life, to build mutual relations based on truth and respect.

Masala is a collective led by Max Cegielski (a popular traveller and a writer) , DJ Praczas and duo called Like Orient Sound System. The collective works for the sake of different project with many, many other musicians important for polish folk and independent scene. The result is a fusion between world folk and drum&bass with some addition of dub. Blend of traditional instruments with modern synth tunes, oriental drums with bitbox, tuva throat singing with rhymes of hip-hop MC is their speciality.

This week is time for Preserve -A multi-awarded, delightful Polish comedy. It’s a first feature film by Łukasz Palkowski.
Freelance photographer, after a stormy breakup with his girlfriend has to leave her luxurious apartment. He moves to a dilapidated, old building in ill-famed Praga – notorious for being the most dangerous district of Warsaw. His new landlord hires him to prepare photographic documentation of the deplorable state of the house. While taking pictures of the neighbourhood, Marcin unexpectedly discovers alien and at the same time fascinating world of the old Warsaw, not mentioned in official guidebooks.
