>>Jarek Smietana Trio featuring Hamiet Bluiett

For all you Jazzers out there this is your last chance to catch a concert at this year’s Summer Jazz Festival. Closing out this year’s festival is none other than the big fish himself Mr. Jarek Smietana and his Trio featuring Hamiet Bluiett. Krakow native Smietana is a stalwart of the Summer Jazz Festival but this concert will be slightly different as his group will feature Bluiett, an African American, on the big bad baritone saxophone. Hamiet Bluiett was born in Brooklyn, Illonois in 1940 is a saxophonist, clarinetist, and composer. His primary instrument is the baritone saxophone, and he is widely considered one of the best living players. He has played with many Jazz Funk and Soul musicians in his long career including Sam Rivers, Babatunde Olatunji, Abdullah Ibrahim, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. He is also a founding member of the World Saxophone Quartet which is one of the most well regarded all saxophones groups in the world. Even if Jazz isn’t your bag, cool down with some warm vibes and deep tones.

Pink Freud and horny Trees

20 jul (sun)

> Pink Freud and horny Trees, concert, 19:00
The best what you can get in young, rebellious, modern, polish jazz. You will get it on an open air concert at the roof of round, red,  building called meaningfully  Okrąglak
Pink Freud -their music playfully evades classification – the songs are well settled in the tradition and, from the other side, create a modern jazz sound, the pieces are full of brave improvisation, and also, full of sense of humor. Horny Trees -  is a team of outstanding rangers, caretakers and explorers of the auditory wilderness (…) they use real wooden instruments to penetrate the sylvan bedding in search of young, unique and lively shoots. It is the energetic, lustful and extremely horny trees that are the subject of the group’s fascination. The rangers nourish them, ensure their healthy growth and – most importantly – do it with due dignity, passion and love from their myspace profile>link above)
