Audio Art Festival

>> Audio Art Festival, 21 Nov- 6 Dec

Audio Art is an experimental and postmodernist art of the close of XX century and the beginning of the XXI century. Audio Art is an integration of sound and visual art. Presentation of Audio Art appears in form of the concert, performance and installation. Audio Art creates new concept of sound source: as an object and musical instrument in certain space and time. Audio Art is a “one person art”: composer, designer and performer unify the whole process of art creation. Audio Art uses low and high technology. Audio Art Festival presents individual artists from all over the world. Festival also presents other non-audio art events extending the whole image of the art based on sound.

Matthew Shipp Trio

17 Nov (Mon)

>>Matthew Shipp Trio
Matthew Shipp (USA) – piano
Joe Morris (USA) – bass
Whit Dickey (USA) – drums
Matthew Shipp – one of the most talented contemporary jazz composer and pianist. In mid 80s Shipp has begun his constant cooperation with William Parker. At first he played in David S. Ware’s quartet what brought him big succes (great recordings for DIW label). Then the fame came after concerts and records with trio with William Parker on bass and Whit Dickey or Susie Ibarra on drums. His recordings in duos with Rosco Mitchell and Mat Maneri were equally enthusiastically accepted. Shipp leads his own trios – one with William Parker and Guilermo E. Brown and second one with Joe Maneri and Whit Dickey, quartets – with different instruments, such as : Rob Brown on saxophone, Wadada Leo Smith or Roy Campbell on trumpet and Mat Maneri on violin. His solo projects are also very good. Shipp recently got involved in electronic music./after alchemia.com.pl/

Vespa

9 Nov

>>Vespa, start at 20:00
VESPA’s members call themselves “the worst band in Poland” at once finishing all comments on their skills as the instrumentalists.VESPA is one of the first Polish bands playing ska music. Created in 1995 by Radar (vocal), Krzaq (bass), Pasterz (drums) and Kantor (guitar). The band was soon joined by Maciek (guitar) and they called themselves VESPA and began to conquer the world. At this time the band members were fascinated by so called third wave of ska but due to poor music skills at that time, they sounded more like ska-punk. Now after many ups and downs, deconstructions and reconstructions the band’s music is a neat combination of Jamaican ska and rocksteady rhythms and American ’swing revival’
