Krakow Pierogi Fest

Pierogi Fest,
In summer it seems there is a festival for almost everyone and everything in Krakow. This is confirmed by the fact that there is even one for the noble stuffed pierogi. The ancient dumpling is celebrated this year in the sixth installment of the culinary festival. Many restaurants will set up booths along the Maly Rynek and serve up their tastiest clouds of dough. This isn’t just for their health though; chefs compete for the coveted Kazimierz Wielki award (the spectator’s vote) and the Swietego Jacek Pierogow award (jury prize). Besides offering thousands of tasty Polish pockets of love, the Festival is also accompanied by craft fairs, artistic events, concerts and other spectacles.
It may seem strange to gobble down hot and heavy peirogis in the middle of the summer but once you start you won’t want to stop. Come celebrate one of Poland’s oldest cooking traditions, but come early because queuing in the sun isn’t so fun.
