TRAVELERT: Krakow Concert and Event Alerts

Every year edition brings to the day light stories from across the world captured by photographers and comments present issues.

World Press Photo was founded in 1955 and an independent non-profit organization  based in Amsterdam to support and increase standards in photojournalism and documentary photography among the photographers from whole the world.

“We believe in the power of visual journalism to inspire and shape us”.

Exhibition can be seen in Bunkier Sztuki (Bunker of Art) till 28th of October from 10am till 8pm.

FORTIFIED is a new cycle of concerts organized by Krakow music collective Loose Wire. it presents the newest independent alternative and experimental rock bands. During every edition new bands will be presented, from Krakow, Europe and around the world.

“FOODJECTS is an exhibition presenting new patterns in kitchen utensils created by Spanish industrial designers and chefs. The purpose of their creation was to emphasise the texture, flavours, differences and aromas in new Spanish cuisine – one of the most creative and surprising in the world. Nearly 100 objects are a proof that consumption can also provide us with intelectuall and sensual experiences and an original exhibition installation created by Martín Azúy is an excellent creativity.”

An expanded film version of the sixth episode of director Krzysztof Kieślowski’s 1988 Polish language ten-part made-for-television drama, The Decalogue. The film explores its narrow theme with subtlety and psychological force. Tomek, a timid, loner 19-year-old postal worker who is an orphan and lives with the pleasant mother of a friend in a non-descript Warsaw housing project hi-rise complex, spies with an astronomical telescope he stole from a nearby school on an attractive and promiscuous slightly older attractive woman, Magda who lives alone in an apartment opposite of his. The woman learns of his obsession and starts responding to his surveillance – with potentially disastrous results. Masala is a collective led by Max Cegielski (a popular traveller and a writer) , DJ Praczas and duo called Like Orient Sound System. The collective works for the sake of different project with many, many other musicians important for polish folk and independent scene. The result is a fusion between world folk and drum&bass with some addition of dub. Blend of traditional instruments with modern synth tunes, oriental drums with bitbox, tuva throat singing with rhymes of hip-hop MC is their speciality.

>1st Film Music Festival, 29-31 May

As the name indicates, the festival is dedicated to music composed for movies.It starts exactly at 100th anniversary of the first soundtrack made by one of the best composers ever – Camille Saint-Saëns (Paris 1908).
The festival opens in Philharmonic Hall with concert “100 Years of Film Score”, that will be a retrospective of the most popular pieces of music composed for films.(29th of may,20:00). The following days will see  plenary concerts on Krakow’s Błonia: on 30th the French composer Eric Serra presents his music to Luc Besson’s films and on 31th Sinfonietta Cracovia, Pro Musica Mundi choir will play music to the first part of Peter Jackson’s trilogy The Lord of the Rings (film will be screened as well).
